MASCorp Diagnostics — Privacy Policy
Privacy Policy — CAN-View (Android)
Effective date: April 22, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how CAN-View, the Android application with package name com.mascorp.canview, handles information when you install and use it.
CAN-View is a standalone utility that displays raw high-speed CAN traffic (500 kbit/s) from a Bluetooth OBD-II adapter you pair with your device. It is intended for technicians and advanced users who connect a compatible adapter to a vehicle’s diagnostics port. All CAN-related processing described below applies solely to this application.
1. Summary
- No account. The App does not offer registration or sign-in and does not send passwords or credentials to MASCorp or any third-party authentication service.
- No general internet access for core features. The App does not declare the Android
INTERNETpermission. It does not download CAN profiles, dictionaries, or similar assets from the network as part of its normal operation. - Bluetooth only for diagnostics. The App uses Bluetooth Classic (SPP) to communicate with an OBD-II adapter that you select from devices already bonded in Android settings. Data exchanged over that link is handled on your device for display.
- No Google Play in-app purchases in this package.
- On-device display. CAN and OBD-related text shown in the App is formatted locally. The App is not designed to upload live vehicle streams or diagnostic logs to MASCorp servers during ordinary use.
- Third-party systems (Bluetooth stack, operating system, device manufacturer, or security software) may handle wireless or system metadata outside MASCorp’s control.
If you do not agree with this Policy, do not use the App.
2. Information the App processes
2.1 Bluetooth link to the OBD-II adapter
The App uses Android’s Bluetooth APIs to connect to an adapter you choose from already paired devices. The operating system or the App may show adapter identifiers (such as Bluetooth name and address) as part of the user interface. Diagnostic payloads, including CAN-related lines, travel between your phone or tablet and the adapter over Bluetooth while you use the App. That path does not depend on the vehicle’s own cellular or Wi‑Fi connection.
2.2 On-device processing
CAN and OBD traffic is parsed or formatted on the device for display (including normalized log lines). MASCorp does not receive that stream from the App through the App’s own networking features as described in this Policy.
2.3 Storage on the device
The App does not store account credentials. Settings such as theme and filter fields may be held in memory while the App runs and can be reset when the App process ends, unless a later update adds optional saved preferences.
Android Auto Backup, when enabled in the manifest and allowed by your device and Google account settings, may include private app data in backups according to Google’s rules. Clear app data or uninstall the App before giving away or disposing of a device if sensitive diagnostic information could remain on screen or in local storage.
3. Permissions declared in the App
The App requests Bluetooth-related permissions only:
| Permission | Purpose |
|---|---|
BLUETOOTH_CONNECT |
Establish a connection to a paired OBD-II adapter. |
BLUETOOTH_SCAN |
Support Bluetooth flows required by the OS (neverForLocation — not used to determine location). |
BLUETOOTH / BLUETOOTH_ADMIN |
Legacy Bluetooth access on older Android versions (declared with maxSdkVersion where applicable). |
The App does not declare INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE, or location permissions in its manifest.
4. Legal bases (EEA, UK, and similar jurisdictions)
Where applicable, processing is based on:
- Performance of a contract or steps before it (providing the App you requested); and/or
- Legitimate interests (operating and securing the App, preventing abuse); and/or
- Consent where required (for example runtime Bluetooth permissions on supported Android versions).
5. Sharing
MASCorp Diagnostics does not sell personal data.
If you contact us by email or through mascorpdiagnostics.com, routine hosting or email providers may process that communication according to their roles.
Information may be disclosed if required by law or to protect rights, safety, and integrity.
6. Security
- Use reputable Bluetooth adapters and install firmware updates from the manufacturer when available.
- Do not leave diagnostic sessions unattended on shared or unlocked devices.
- Because diagnostic content stays primarily on the device and the adapter link, protect physical access to both.
7. Retention
- On device: Information shown in the App exists while you use it unless you export or save it through a feature we may add later. Uninstalling the App or clearing its data removes application-private storage as implemented by Android.
- Contact with MASCorp: If you email us, we retain messages according to normal business and legal needs.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing, or to data portability.

9. Children
The App is not aimed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction) and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
10. International transfers
MASCorp may operate or use service providers in countries other than yours. Where the law requires, we use appropriate safeguards.
11. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. The Effective date at the top will change when we do. If we introduce material new data practices (for example account login, internet-acquired content, or purchases), we will update this Policy and, where required, obtain consent or give notice before those features go live.
12. United States privacy rights
Where U.S. state privacy laws apply, you may have rights such as access, deletion, or opt-out of certain processing. MASCorp does not sell personal information collected through the App for monetary consideration as described in those laws for the data practices stated in this Policy.
